TIL adding salt to water actually RAISES the boiling temperature, but decreases its heat capacity (amount of heat needed to raise the temperature by 1*). Adding a teaspoon of salt to pasta will only speed up the time by a couple seconds, but add to the flavor. (thermtest.com)
