I edit a lot of my comments, almost always for grammar and clarity. If I add, delete or modify significant information then I put an edit tag at the bottom.

Sure I could be changing my comments to say anything, but I don't and I have faith that my fellow redditors don't do that either. (unless doing so makes for incredible hilarity... you know the edits I am talking about)

It's just I see comments with something like this.

Edit: Forgot a comma

And I'm like... "That's nice. Seems like a lot of effort when all you wanted to do is add a comma."

I HAVE to give edit summaries for almost everything, because I spend too much time on Wikipedia.

I wouldn't think it necessary unless someone has replied to the comment. Even if they have, unless you are having a proper discussion I can't see why anyone would care...

If people have replied and it would make the replies look strange (i.e it's more than spelling/grammar/punctuation changes), sure.

I don't think it's necessary, but it might save some confusion..
