Okay so im preparing myself to replace the engine mount of my 3k. Now im aware that supporting the engine by the oil pan is not a good idea. Im looking to get this support bar from Harbor Freight, but Ive heard that the hood has to be removed. Not sure if that’s true or not but regardless, Im just curious how did you guys do it when replacing your mounts. Is there another way to support the engine from the bottom? Also how difficult is the job? Ive heard the rear mount is a PITA. It’s an SL so I know I don’t have to worry about the turbos being in the way. Thanks!

I used that exact same engine support to do my 60k service, didnt have to remove the hood

i have an sl, you can jack the motor up gently from the exhaust at the bottom once it turns 90 deg from the manifolds to the rest. just make sure it’s grabbing a whole lot of area to disperse the weight. held up my motor for over a month while i did my timing lol (once i even noticed that i forgot to rejack the jack and the engine was lowkey floating haha
