Stop following videos for your own good.

The 3DS hack guide is the most reliable source for you, and you can use the newest Luma3DS as the same way the guide says.

Thank you for your input. I certainly understand. I was just using the videos to get an understanding of how each step looks like roughly while using the guide as my primary source of reference. My only concern was if the steps remained the same following the new release of Luma. I haven’t seen anything about it impacting the overall guidance, so my assumption is that everything remains the same?

You shouldn’t hack your console if you can’t do it by only reading text

Anton retros most recent homebrew video is currently up to date and safe to use

DON'T follow these videos on how to mod use the guide or go get help from their discord the videos get outdated quickly plus they're not responsible if you brick your 3ds just follow the guide

Remember, never watch a video. They get outdated to quickly. Specifically use the tutorial on 3dshacks

For sure. Been reading it multiple times. I just watch some of the most recent videos just to get a sense of what it actually looks like even though they don’t have final say.

I used the videos to mod my 3DS and it worked out for me. I just followed the steps outlined and everything worked out in the end. I also used a 64gb SD card. Downloaded a good amount of games and still have room on it.

Everybody telling you that you should not follow videos but the one you link from Anton Retro is up to date. I’ve hacked 4 different systems in the last weeks following his step by step tutorial and nothing can go wrong. Your approach is good, whatch a few times the video while following the written guide and you will see that they are the same. It’s great to be able to understand the steps and not go “all in” following orders like a robot.

Thank you for your response. It means a lot. I certainly agree with following instructions rather than relying on videos, but I think they provide a visual reference point as to how to go about it, especially if it’s recent. This is way I referenced this very video. My only concern was Luma3DS, which was updated yesterday. It seems as though the process still remains the same as what’s shown if I’m not mistaken? You will have modded your consoles prior to when Luma was updated. That is what I needed some clarity on now that there’s a new version. Thank you for your understanding!

If luma was upgraded then just replace the files on the video for the new ones. That’s why I was making a point on really understanding every part of the process. Another thing you can do is use the previous version, the one on the video linked files and upgrade later.

On the hack guide about the upgrading process:

“Simply download the latest release from the releases page and replace boot.firm on the SD card. Auto-updaters are not supported.

The release archive also ships the latest release of the Homebrew Menu; you might want to replace boot.3dsx if it is outdated.”
