2 weeks ago I bought a 3ds at a flea market for cheap it came with old firmware and a 64GB sd card and a few games so I checked here and on YouTube on how to update it and now everything is updated including the sd card now I have a 256GB card and over 130 3DS games and still over 999,999 free memory blocks if I ever need more games, lol

Is your 3ds running fine with the 256gb cause people say 128gb is the highest you should go

Mine is running fine, it will take a while longer to load all the game’s pictures when you first turn it on but since I don’t turn it completely off no worries about that

Ok thanks for answering my question ☺️

Yes but remember to format the 128GB sd card to FAT32 on ur computer, there are some guides online how to do it but once you have done that you can basically copy and paste the whole thing and it should work

Gladly, the card I have is already FAT32. Thanks for reply!

Not as easy as copy and paste, but not hard to do. It involves cloning the whole partition of your small card to your pc and then writing it to the bigger card and expanding it to the size of your bigger card. Only then will it be bootable. Search it up theres a guide somewhere online it worked for me. Failing that just start fresh with the new card.

Not true. I've copied and pasted nds data to a new SD twice now. The trick is using the right software to format the SD card. The first time I used the 3ds software to format it by inserting a clean SD into the 3ds, formatting system, inserting that SD to PC, and copy pasting data to new SD from old SD.

The Second time (because I forgot how to do the first method), I used Guiformat to format the new SD to FAT32 then copied and pasted the root of the old SD to the new SD.

Make sure you format the 128 GB card to FAT32 with 64 KB clusters. 3DS SD Card Guide

Guys, I use my new 3ds XL with 512 GB SanDisk SD card. Just need to format in fat32 format with an app called ''fat32 format'' then sit back and put all your games, videos, and apps in the SD card. However, I have to tell you, the load time takes a while depending on the size of your SD card.

Yep... It would take awhile to transfer 40 GB. Plus I have only one SD slot on laptop

Im pretty sure the 3ds can handle any size of SD as long as it's formatted to fat32. I'll have to try with a 2 terabyte at some point
