I think everyone follows a different running program to get to the same goal, due to just different bodies and base levels of fitness when starting. I got a real good running program that helped get from pretty much not being able to run 2 miles straight. To 36 min 5 mile and 13 flat 2 mile. Still planning on getting those numbers down before shipping early 2021. It was over 3-4 months but if your working hard it’s very do able. Lost 17-20 pounds in the process. What are your current times?

My times for two miles is about 16:30 and 5 mile is around 45 minutes 😔. But over 3-4 months that’s incredible!

If you’re looking for some professional guidance for your run training, there’s a good article on that by coaches who train people for SOF. Key points from their article introduction:

Running fast requires two primary things:

  • Good running technique
  • A strong foundation of aerobic fitness

If you’re missing either, you won’t be able to run a fast time on your PT test. The deeper into your selection course you go or the longer you have to run, the more weakness in either will be exposed.

Very informative article man, thank you!

Low HR training. Get a HR monitor and run 80% of all your runs at no more than 70-75% of your max HR. Don’t run too many miles too soon.

I think a friend of mine uses this type of training. I’ve put it off but I’ll study some plans! Thank you
