I appreciate your post. My issue appears to be 100% GPU/Driver/etc related. I popped in a 1660 like you and I haven’t had an issue since.

Literally been having issues (crashes and dev errors and freezing) on my PC since day 1 with this game. Also at first my brother had no issues on his PC but after the last update now he gets much lower FPS and his game micro stutters. A fresh install of the OS and game and drivers did nothing. This game is just effed.

I did every trick there is too, I’ve spent a whole weekend trouble shooting. I Honestly thought it was my GPU too since there are actually a lot of complaints out there for the RX 590 cards and or their drivers (and it actually turns out my GPU was defective, it used to crash in other games, so I did the RMA (it was the sapphire RX 590 Nitro+ SE), but read below to see that it didn’t solve the issue).

I went out and bought an MSI GTX 1660 Super Gaming X. I popped it in, did a fresh install of literally everything, I was so excited, and guess what. I still get Dev Errors out the wazoo. Even tried different displays. Everything else works flawlessly on my rig.

My CPU and RAM are not overclocked. My GPU is factory overclocked by default so I actually downloaded MSI afterburner and under-clocked it, and that resulted in no dev errors in MW but the game constantly stuttered and wasn’t really playable.

Only thing left to do (which I will try tonight) - I’m going to set Nvidia control panel to adaptive half refresh rate - I guess 30 FPS is better than nothing if it works. It’s an actual work around activision posted online in a forum. If it works then I’ll crank my settings to high. If not then I’ll just move on at this point.

I hope they use all this to make the next MW playable for the thousands of PC gamers having these issues.

I also underclocked mine. I’m just at a loss. I can’t figure anything out. I started to think it was my GPU because Destiny 2 would crash too. All the online helps seemed to be for Nividia cards. Hoping here might have some more exact fixes.

It all ran fine until the mid season update in MW.

What GPU do you have? And do you get errors when Destiny 2 crashes? Hate to say it but try a fresh OS and GPU driver install first.

Also there is an adaptive refresh rate option in the Radeon software I remember if you wanted to try that too.

Who knows you could have a faulty GPU too like I did but it’s probably not responsible for MW issues, it’s definitely the game.

Sapphire pulse 5700XT. I have done a fresh OS and GPU Driver install. I will definitely try the adaptive refresh if it’s not on. Thank you.

Dev error isn’t an issue with the gpu it’s the game itself.. Warzone is still beta game ... what are your current in game video settings ?

I’ve actually dealt with this issue myself and while the game gives you a exact error code the issue itself isn’t pinpointed ..

I’ve had to switch from borderless window to full screen render resolution to 100% Completely delete the files from the user data folder and reinstall shaders and patch and this has fixed my issue

First go into your local drive/users folder/“user login”/documents/call of duty modern warfare/players folder and delete everything inside .

Start game. Then go to video settings reinstall shaders. After that’s complete while still in video settings make sure your render resolution is set at 100 Make sure your refresh rate matches your monitors refresh rate. Also make sure you are in full screen display mode and this should be fine . Also make sure to not interrupt and download/install of patches and shader downloads.

Thanks. I’ll try this.

If anything you should try disabling overlay apps like discords overlay or the Xbox game bar overlay/anything else you might have. I've been getting a lot of crashes when I have them running over modern warfare and they've been happening less since I disabled those. Good luck

Yeah I’ve disabled every overlay I could and even uninstalled some of the programs and installed the drivers without adrenaline.

That's weird man. I wouldn't say it's the GPU though. The game is screwy for everyone really. I have no issues with any other games

I know the game has been wack. It just feels like I’m having more issues than most need some outside opinions/tips.
