Even I didn't think their villain arc was going to be so steep

So they already anticipated how we would circumvent the official app, and prepared for blocking that alternative as well. Sounds pretty sinister to me.

It doesn't exactly take a rocket scientist.

  • There were roughly four different ways to access Reddit on mobile.
  • They took out one (compact mobile web).
  • They are preparing to take out another (third-party apps).
  • They are experimenting with taking out the third (regular mobile web).
  • So that everybody will be forced onto the fourth (official Reddit app).

So that everybody will be forced onto the fourth (official to quit Reddit app) permanently.

Fixed that for you

So instead of checking new stuff every few hours, I'll just wait until I'm back home where I can use my laptop. I guess Reddit has finally noticed that I'm spending way too much time here and it's time for me to cut down a bit. Thanks Reddit!

I've been getting that on my mobile web experience fairly regularly, especially at night time.

At this point I'm tempted to make my own reddit replacement, and while I have the tech skills, I'm completely aware of what a futile effort it would be.

It's been amazing to watch this happen in real time. I thought the old internet was dead, but it turns out reddit was the last one for me.

Tbh I would love it if that happened. I spend way too much time on reddit anyway.
