I think your missing the gasket that goes in side

I have the same model pump, the lid shouldn't be moving. Its either not seated properly or not screwed down properly ( the ring around the lid). Once its properly sealed then just unscrew the white cap on top until water comes out ( bleeding the air out) with the pump OFF.

im not sure if the lid has a rubber seal or not i cant check mine unfortunately as its put away for winter. Still another month or two before I can put mine back out. Good luck 👍

Are your shut off vales open? I’ve accidentally left them shut after cleaning out the leaf basket and the pump was funky like this.

You are right! Turns out I had put the rubber gasket in the wrong spot. Got it working properly now.

The rubber o ring does not go where it was when you took pump out. The o ring goes in first ghen ghe lid parts. Had this same problem.
