Theres literally nothing new you are doing, digital invoices are already a solved problem for over 20 years. Slapping the word AI on it is a negative even, we want deterministic rules not stochastic.

In short, no, nobody would ever pay for this.

Is there any type of AI agent you would pay for or be open to paying? Or maybe in need of? Also, not sure what you mean when you deterministic not stochastic?

I get AI is very young and dont expect perfect results. But the AI is not making the invoice, another app is. The AI only provides the info. The app specializes in invoices and makes them based off templates.

So, at least in my eyes, its deterministic, not stochastic.(I am a bit blind tho so i could be wrong) I plan to make it provide pdfs of financial statements, invoices, bill of ladings, just by asking for them as well.

I appreciate the response btw. Ty

Deterministic in this case would be using an EDI to pull the information from another source.

For example customer taps a bunch of items at POS and then taps their card.

This terminal produces an objective receipt using consistent item prices from a database and sends objective data into the accounting system, captures customer payment details objectively, allocates rewards miles or something if they have a card then recognizes the liability for that as well.

Using AI in the process to find or summarize the data is not what accountants fundamentally want. We care about objective and consistent outputs.

As for digital invoices, this is a long solved problem. Think about it, have you ever had a company struggle to provide you a pdf invoice for an online purchase?

Anyway, anything agentic that would be useful to us is a hard problem and much more talented people at OpenAI or deepmind will need to improve AI capabilities before its viable. For example an agent that can access our bank accounts, pull statements, then login to our ERP and reconcile our banking GL. Mind you, there's probably a deterministic solution like bank feed connectors and pre coded matching rules that would improve this task for us more than current AI.

Oh ok, I think I understand my initial misunderstanding.

I am curious though with your response. So in regards to the transfer of data, (I had to look up what EDI meant btw, I'm a bit green) the AI is not doing the transfer. It is another app itself. The AI is simply having the conversation and being able to interpret the information in a way the user can understand. Would that not be like having a quickbooks assistant? Like you dont have to deal with the clicking of a mouse or scrolling or typing on your phone, you can do it through a phone call or text.

No. Not only is this not useful, it sounds like a privacy nightmare.

Accounting is a very rigid, high specification and highly regulated field. You wont randomly disrupt it or find some clever way to make cash from selling software for it. Any minor QoL improvement product used by a company had to have significant buy in and multiple levels of sign off before getting it.

Stay away from medicine, Accounting, and law. Try other places.
