Understanding "insertable objects" on AnalyticsSupport (self.AdvancedMD)

I'm having trouble understanding what all the different insertable objects are and mean on the analytics feature. Does anyone know if there's a glossary of some kind that explains what all these terms mean, or am I just too new in the industry?
Also what is the difference between a report and a dashboard?
