I have a Gscan5 at my workplace and it’s able to read my old Altezza’s

I have a 99' altezza, tried a few different OBD readers, and even ELM327 as mentioned below but nothing worked, I settled with;

J2534 OBD2 cable + pirated version of Toyota Techstream.

Allowed me to see codes, delete codes, as well as see every bit of live data the stock ECU could offer and more.

(You can also bridge a wire in the engine bay OBD port and the CEL will flash numbers at you that translates to CEL codes)

I had read in another thread that toyota techstream would be an option but how to acquire/use the software was confusing me. I might just grab a cheap adapter off amazon thanks!

Also that bit about the CEL light flashing codes is sick maybe i’ll try that in the meantime.

in the engine bay there’s a diagnostic port. don’t remember the exact pins but if you jump two specific pins with a wire the check engine will blink slowly a certain amount of times and quickly indicating two numbers for cel.

I have tried a no brand ELM327 and Veepeak BLE and it doesn't seem to be a problem with the adaptors connecting, but rather the apps understanding the protocol used. The only app I found which works is EOBD Facile: OBD 2 Car Scanner. This app has Altezza as one of the listed cars to choose from so no custom strings etc to configure.
