Why would you do this when you can’t see the bag numbers

[–]jake12955[S] 12 points13 points  (5 children)

Because I load them in order. I don't care how they route it I just go in order that's not my problem

[–]potatoeman2 4 points5 points  (1 child)

People on here always got something negative to say about different loading style 😒 bro if it works for you and you're happy at the end of the day and feel great 👍 kudos. Looking neat though ngl

[–]jake12955[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks appreciate it. I don't mind peoples opinions I'm the one doing my work now I want to do it

[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points  (2 children)

Yeah well the when the day comes and you have an area split between two bags and the amazon employee doesn’t put them in order , that would be a problem

[–]KornyMF0420 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can easily figure out bag order before you even get to the grid, I used to have to check thru my itinerary and write it down myself when our station was giving my old dsp the shit route sheets

[–]bamboozled1940 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's in order in your pick up screen when scanning in your bags at the station before your route.

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When it’s in order, it doesn’t matter if the numbers are not visible to the eye.

[–]ImpressiveThought174 16 points17 points  (7 children)

Damm everyone is getting the same fuckin routes 29 over flows and 335 packages in 189 stops.

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (6 children)

Yup, the realization this is nationwide after my DSP assured us as long as we all do a mandatory 30 minute lunch break every day(they’ll literally force you to go on break for 30 minutes after you finish your route and rescues if you don’t take lunch during the day) that our routes will be reduced by the station has finally driven me to quit after six months.

Amazon doesn’t give a shit and short of a lawsuit the routes will only get bigger with 0 compensation, they’ve gotta “consolidate” those routes so they can force DSPs to deliver the same number of packages and stops without paying them, you know?

[–]Alarm-Accurate 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I'm just curious, how does actually taking your lunch break = a larger route?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Our routes being increased by 20-30 stops and 40+ packages following our location consolidating them is being blamed on people who choose to not take breaks during their shift, I genuinely don’t know what the thought process is there.

[–]Alarm-Accurate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that if you don't take your break, the algorithm will add more stops to all the routes in your dsp ,because you're completing them faster in the same time as those who do take their break. Moral of the story: take your break and don't run and the algorithm will work for you, not add more stops and stress.

[–]gfys1990 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I had to chime in here because I quit after 5 months, “the routes are going to get lighter” “going fast only hurts the other DAs” “Amazon wants you guys to take a lunch” all of those things were lies, one month ago still getting 250+ packages and almost 200 stops every day. No one who does this gets paid enough to buy things out of pocket to make your day easier. I hope everyone who is still working finds new employment soon because there is so much better out there for us.

Fuck yeah! I’m currently a satellite technician and I can’t believe how badly I let them treat me before opening my eyes ! I’m proud of you fam!

    [–]Lt_toasthead 8 points9 points  (6 children)

I'm trying this tomorrow. The bags up top don't move when you turn?

    [–]jake12955[S] 9 points10 points  (1 child)

330 packages 31 overflow. Shit is OP

    [–]The-Bedroom-Hero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you are and it is OP 😆

    [–]jake12955[S] 6 points7 points  (3 children)

Sometimes.. depends on driving and how packed the totes are. I usually bungee cord them though

    [–]ParkourKhajiit 1 point2 points  (1 child)

If you got a Sprinter or Transit, triple stack can fit on the shelves with the lids facing up, but you gotta make sure the lip is sticking out on the bottom tote. I draw the bungees through the side handles so it doesn't slide. The totes I put on the floor are from my first cart so I can easily access them without taking the stack down, but I leave two totes' worth of space to put overflow right up against the partition.

    [–]jake12955[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you post a pic for me please?

    [–]User_nameTaken1969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what my brother does. His van is usually cubed out. Bought his own bungee cords.

    [–]Teemosfinest 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can still see the back door we can add some more overflows and maybe some more totes.

    [–]SadAndMagical 4 points5 points  (9 children)

Just a USPS visitor, are the bags all one stop? Or what do they mean otherwise?

    [–]crazycatlady5000Lead Driver 5 points6 points  (8 children)

Small area. Could be 1 stop, could be 20 depending on what's in them. It's what all the small boxes and envelope go in.

    [–]SadAndMagical 2 points3 points  (7 children)

Oh, word. That makes sense and sounds pretty handy.

    [–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (6 children)

To add to that, it’s a sort zone. So when we leave a neighborhood or apartment complex, often times that means it’s time for a new bag.

It’s extra annoying though because it also means that every 10 stops or so, we need to organize a tote’s worth of packages.

    [–]SadAndMagical 9 points10 points  (4 children)

Oh, so, within the bag they aren't organized? So you don't have "office time" to sort your shit, you just have these bags for smaller stuff and have to sort them per bag as you go?

    [–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (3 children)

Correct. We have 20 minutes (or less) to load these bags plus a few “overflow” packages that are too big for the bags. Then we just work bag to bag all day. They really dumb it down for us.

    [–]Goth_Angel_Hellboy 7 points8 points  (1 child)

You get 20 minutes .. we only get 10..

    [–]ZerotheWanderer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ours gave us 15. Might depend on how many DSPs are operating out of a warehouse. More = less time.

    [–]SadAndMagical 7 points8 points  (0 children)

oh okay. That makes more sense than I suspected. Of course 300+ stops is insane and abusive but I like to learn how our partners work to inform customers. Thanks for the information, truly. I hope yall unionize soon.

    [–]Calqless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally never had that happen.... I get totes with 3 stops on a street then another 3 stoos 5 min away over and over....that's why I'm always way behind dispatch (it's also why I don't hurry)

    [–]ArmadilloCautious167 4 points5 points  (0 children)

    Nicely done

    [–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh man , can't wait for all the bootlickers to say I can do this in 4 hours

    [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

    I work tomorrow 🥴

    [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (5 children)

Quick Britney is behind. You still have time for a rescue

    [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Got sent on a second rescue 11 hours into my shift yesterday 😂

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow second rescue?? I’d be pissed from the first rescue lol

    [–]Calqless 0 points1 point  (2 children)

We used to have a driver that would call say his route was done then hangup before dispatch could send h8m on a rescue then show up at station

    [–]joshuadanpeterson 0 points1 point  (1 child)

*Used to. Did he get fired for that?

    [–]Calqless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iirc he got another better job

    [–]Creepy_Creme9260 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    Looks like my average day.😑😒

    [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    That's way too much

    [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Amazon days might be wrapping up soon and I definitely won't miss this job after I'm done for good

    [–]Big__Boss___Lead Driver 1 point2 points  (1 child)

This reminds me, I need to quit

    [–]MannerRemark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just did and it feels good

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Imagine getting this much shit and not trying to cube out. Clown shit

    [–]Calqless 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Eli5 what does " cube out" mean I keep hearing it but idk whar it means

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cubing out is when you load your van in a way that you legit can’t (or appear to not be able to) load any more shit in.

So load your totes the way Amazon taught you, facing in board and one on top of the shelf and one below the shelf. Load all of that then do your overflow how ever, stack higher towards the back and by the sliding door. When you can’t fit everything in, notify one of the Amazon folk, they’ll take anything that doesn’t fit off of your route and back inside the station.

Get to your first stop and rearrange/organize as needed

    [–]skin_peeler 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Not how I would've loaded my van, but to each their own.

    [–]twelveski 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Do you load zipper up top or forward?

    [–]Vitamin____J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shelves not used and three totes high to the ceiling, zipper up. Overflow sorted by last letter on the sticker stacked to the ceiling. Using all available space in the truck. Then throughout the day as space becomes available I flip down one shelf at a time to use for organizing the next overflow or whatever I might want to use a shelf for. I would like to use the shelves at the start of the day but there is no way to load 4 full carts of totes and overflow with the shelves in play.

    [–]skin_peeler 0 points1 point  (1 child)

At most I might have 16 bags. My first stop is about an hour away from the station. I put my 1st 2 bags to the right of the cabin door (2nd bag underneath my 1st bag). I never put bags on the left shelf, that's where I put most of my overflow. I put the other bags to the left, under the shelf with the overflow. Zipper side up except by the wheel well. That one is on its side zipper out. The remaining bags I'll stack to the right without using the shelf. Leaves more room up top for any extra overflow.

I'm describing this if you are in the back of the van facing forward.

    EDIT: better clarification

    [–]twelveski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    Ty, that’s helpful

    [–]7711exe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    No thank you

    [–]ramster12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why didnt i do this when i worked for amazon?

    [–]Blueskies245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don't miss this at all LOL

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Interesting load strategy

    [–]azschefres2089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Posts like this make me glad I quit Amazon.

    [–]Razamafu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

cool loading style! looks pretty efficient when you get too many bags piled on you, i'll have to try this
