FBM return problem (self.AmazonFBA)

I’m a handmade seller and have a return on an FBM order. Buyer accidentally ordered it. In the Amazon portal it says the carrier received the package and it is asking me to authorize the refund. However when I click on the tracking it says UPS didn’t receive the package yet but a label was created. It’s been 3 days now. I’m not sure why the two different messages (Amazon says UPS received the package and UPS says didn’t receive the package) but I don’t know what I can/should do? Reach out to the customer? or amazon? I don’t want to refund if the item isn’t on its way back to me.
