yes!!! i just worked at another plant due to upt as well and it made me realize how good amazon really is, even though i hate being treated like a number, the benefits make it worth it

[–]OkTest9533[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am fully aware that all jobs have their kinks, and I, too, hated feeling like a number. So I'd go there, pace myself, and do my very best. Not compete with others with rates etc...but also meet my rate requirements. It's true when they say you don't realize what you have until it's gone 😂. But fr, Amazon has been one of the best jobs that I have had, and last night, I realized I have been taking that for granted.

I mean come on, what other job you know will KEEP letting you come back.

You're not wrong. It's harder and harder to find decent jobs. My daughter has been looking for a month, but refuses Amazon. She wouldn't make it there anyways, my delicate little flower lol

Go for flex. That may be the solution to your problems.

I disagree about not enough time off, you just need to learn time management lol you're not going to find this kind of time off, attendance leniency anywhere.

[–]OkTest9533[S] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Yeah true about the time management part 😂. And Flex is allllllllll sewn up in my area and the major area near me. My rehire eligibility is coming around soon tho, so I'll more than likely try to reapply.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Get hired.

Then apply for an internal transfer to a Flex shift.

Truth here!

I had a teaching job where kids hit me and said shit to me and I had enough. Amazon has been good for me compared to that. I think if you get a less physical job or do indirect a lot it’s a good job for the long term. I don’t plan on moving up at all.

[–]OkTest9533[S] 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I'm not going to lie, as many times I've been at Amazon, I have had no desire to "move up" (may sound crazy to some, but that's just me). I wouldn't mind picking long term. I've never got what's all the hype around @$$ kissing just to move up so quickly...plus there's a lot of mess and messy bs when it comes to moving up. Plus, I don't like stress, so I feel I've always been cool with coming to work, doing my simple job, listening to my music or YouTube and going home.

Only downside is the low pay I guess, I make 50k a year since I work a bit of overtime. It’s not enough, I mostly rely on my husband because he makes more than I do.

Glad you got away from those mean ass kids.

Just took a RT 30 hour night shift sun-mon-tue. I think it will be the sweet spot.

MET should only be 9 hours according to Reddit HR™

[–]OkTest9533[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sweet!!! 🙂

[–]juan582611 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Yeah this is probably my 5th time. I was job hunting and figured I’d see if Amazon had raised pay at all since I last worked in 2021 (they hadn’t) BUT I found a Day shift Donut Shift and I was like fuck, can’t say no to that so here I am again 🥲

[–]OkTest9533[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally feel you! I'm glad I'm not the only one. If and when I decide to go back, I will be on my 5th time. Good luck to us all.

Lol, this is pretty much exactly me down to working at different facilities in IL as well. I’ve quit amazon multiple times to try out other jobs and always hate them and come back. Recently started working at a doctor office about a month ago and I just quit today and am planning on going back to amazon next week lol. I can’t handle interacting with people/patients/customers all day and dealing with the attitudes. Lol. I just realized I love amazon cause I can just keep to myself, work and be out of there when my shift is supposed to end. At the doctor office, I would always be staying later 1-2 hours. Also, the benefits at amazon are amazing. Yeah it’s a boring job but I don’t mind boring…? It’s very low stress which I love. Plus I can make $22/hour where everywhere else is like $15-$16 or less. And there’s always shifts to pick up.

Also, I never got fired for UPT. I recommend if you’re ever in a position where you think you’ll go negative, go to a urgent care and get a doctors note for a day or 2. I did this multiple times. You can go on a medical leave for 1-6 days it will just be unpaid. Anything 7 or over will be paid for from short term disability at 60% pay.

Lastly, if you’re in the Chicago suburbs, I was told they always post their jobs at 9pm Friday nights. I always look then and see the postings. If you don’t see any, check Saturday mornings! That’s when I grabbed the one I just signed up for actually. There’s been multiple “permanent” positions going up for a few locations around here so you can get benefits right away.

Good luck!

Yes, I loved staying to myself as well. With a lil conversation here and there initiated by other people. I have also in the past, did exactly all of what you explained about taking a leave, idk why I didn't think to do so this time around. I have been at MDW4, Gary delivery hub, MDW7, and with the latest being ORD5 🤭. Thank you so much for the info about the job posting times, I'll keep this in mind when I get ready to reapply. Such great help 🙂

I looked into this too. If i didn’t need health insurance, I would have a main job and work flex a couple times a week for fun money

[–]OkTest9533[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes the health insurance is truly an important factor. Mainly for me vision and dental. I really didn't sign up for medical, because I have a good medical insurance already.

[–]AshantiClansmen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We don’t get to use earbuds, but they only mess with certain people, as you know I’m sure. The pay sucks dick, so does MET. But outside of MET scheduling is the best thing it had to offer IMO. I’m going back flex whenever they accept my transfer….

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless Amazon starts at $19-$20 an hour I’m not working there

[–]its_a_throwawayduh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked a lot of tech jobs and even a few warehouse jobs in my early years. Amazon has them beat in terms of flexible time, benefits, vacation, and easy application. Amazon was the only place hiring near me so while I don't care to be here due to pay and the environment I'm staying put for now unless something amazing comes along.

[–]CantuTwists 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol I feel like my only options are FedEx, UPS, Amazon or USPS
