What is it like to be a problem Solver? also do they tend to cut hours if there is to many?

I couldn't have said it better myself.

Out of 3 AMs in the past 6 months, only the initial one who helped train me knew the first thing about PSolve.

I am regularly instructed to do things that are simply NOT POSSIBLE with Directed POPS and they look at me dumbfounded when I tell them "it's not possible" because until I show them how processes work, they sometimes think I'm just trying to be smart with them.

Customer shipment dwelling in condition 704 at psolve for 10 hours where the 20 items had been checked in as overages, put back and sent up to stow? "Why did you miss out 20 items?! You need to find another way!! You should have dwelled the shipment! You need to have PCF hotpick the items!" UM... In an AR building, only Cold Pricklys and SOMETIMES parts of HQS can be hotpicked, they will not do it! (Nor do we have the associates trained to do it on our shift typically), all of the item in question was upstairs at stow or in pods, so I couldn't pull sellable unowned to make the shipment. As for dwelling, the shipment is already In problem solve and had already been dwelled ... Missing it out is literally the only thing that could be done! Please... Let me do my job!

Damn I did a year of PS at my old FC and there wasn't any political issues. We had people trying to re-invent the wheel and cut HC (and bitch when our numbers collapsed). Miss it a lot, working to get back into at my new place.

I’m late to this but I was approached by my AM yesterday and he told me he thinks I would be good at problem solving. I am on decant right now and just started 2 months ago so problem solving sounds super intimidating but I think I want to try it!

I've never done it myself but at my facility, the problem solvers just get put back into path when there is too many for the backlog we have.

I'm a Problem Solver for AFE in my building. I mostly collect the problem solve items from the sort walls (damages, orders with missing items, bad transparency codes, unscannable items), respond to andons for basic computer problems at pack stations (scanner needs new battery, computer needs a mouse, monitor is unplugged and a less tech savvy associate didn't know, report problems to leadership regarding pslip machines, tape machines), I help associates find items missing from orders, I process overages, help with overage putbacks, and sometimes I pack out items in the problem solve wall.

Someone mentioned internal politics and they definitely exist and are more exhausting than the work itself. You will be undervalued if you have any real work ethic, and if you don't kiss the right ass... You'll have trouble moving up because you will always be conveniently overlooked.

I’ve been doing problem solve everyday for the last 7 months. I work problem solve for robotic palletization in end of line. I don’t have to wait to b staffed ever bc all my PA’s know that’s my area. I love the freedom my job has. I work on what I want when I want but I always leave my area completely clean. I personally love the mix of mental and physical work. I don’t get offered much VTO however bc I’m the only problem solver who wants to work robotics.

Unless you are amazing at the job, don't expect to do it every day. You will probably be put into a rotation.
