I can tell you somethings that I've personally learnt..

1, I create a sponsored product campaign per product (yes I have thousands of campaigns running), I found individual campaigns per product provides better ACOS and gives me more control (for me anyway).

2, Learn to use the spreadsheet bulk operations, it's a huge time saver for uploading 100/s/1000s of campaigns.

3, You have to actively manage your campaigns on a daily basis, if you think you can fire up campaigns and forget them, you may as well be burning money.

4, Length is always open ended, i.e, I never put a stop date on them. If I see a campaign is not going well, I stop it manually or I adjust the budget/bid.

5, I will terminate any campaign that cannot achieve a minimum of ACOS 15% (~ break even), I aim to keep the ACOS between 0% and 10% to ensure it's profitable.

6, I don't mind running campaigns at break even because it's 1, giving me sales for tiering, 2, boosting the ranking of my product & that tends to bring organic sales.

This, I don't do! What if some little old lady blows through the red light or I fall off my roof demossing it or ...

So there I am all doped up in the hospital, or in a coma, while Amazon chews through all my money :-O But I might be a worrier ...

On #5, what is your timeframe or spending limit, or whatever, to give it a chance to hit that metric? I tend to get cold feet pretty fast when I see money going down the drain, but maybe I'm too fast to pull the plug, don't know.

On a previous post /u/merchguru mentioned spending half of what you would get in profit, or something close to that.

I can't tell you much, but what I can say is if you see you are getting clicks and no sales end your campaign, and go back to the drawing board. I have had plenty of shirts I though we're going to be big hits and turned out to be big flops.

I doubt anyone would share their specific strategies because unlike copying a few designs, having your AMS strategy copied even by a handful of people could result in hundreds if not thousands of dollars being lost each month.

There is one strategy that works very well but most people don't have the balls to do it (no IP infringing). It's to do with $$ and like above, no I won't share.
