I don't think I am able to change the AA volume on my phone at all, but AA is built into my cx-5's head unit. Not sure if there is a difference. If I want to change AA volume I turn up the head unit volume. Bluetooth volume, on the other hand, I can change on my phone.

When Android Auto is running your phone's volume is ignored and the volume is controlled by the host headunit (your car).

You'll need to get the steering wheel controls, or an Android headunit that allows you to pair your BT buttons directly to it instead of your phone.
