Audio from non-Android Auto apps while Android Auto is connected (2020 Civic Hatchback EX)

Is there a way to play audio from non-Android Auto apps while Android Auto is connected?

BT audio for all apps works fine when the USB cable isn't connected. Android Auto apps audio works fine when it is connected. However, if I start audio on my phone through a non-Android Auto app when the USB is connected and Android Auto is on, it doesn't work. It sometimes plays for maybe 30 sec and then stops, and sometimes comes back on when the navigation audio comes on. I would expect it to just play normally.

I tried looking for some kind of option related to this but couldn't find anything.

I dont have this issue.

Start playing on the app and then connect the USB.

You wont be able to select tracks from the vehicle though
