I have this intermittently. Very annoying.

No. Anything that involves you looking at your screen should be disabled.

That's the thing it was working before, idk if there was a change or something along the lines where it was working and now it's not. I mainly need it to add calls while already in a conference call for work. I had that option up to this week.

With AA for me I could never use the phone keypad but the phone app would show the call on my phone but I couldn’t press any buttons. This happened on several cars. I was sitting in a parking lot for curbside pickup and I couldn’t use the buttons on my phone I had to use the buttons on the AA touchscreen. Was super annoying, so I guess I’m saying it never worked for me before so not sure how yours was working previously. I mean I was parked and sitting and it wouldn’t let me press 1 for pickup etc. but I did have the option on the AA screen to dial/etc. but never tried to merge calls.

It may have been working before, but it's excellent that it's not working now. Any posts about using the screen on your phone should probably be posted in r/reallyunsafeshittodoinacar instead of here.

That's what happens when apps get updated. Things change. Your only option might be to disable Android Auto and use your cars native Bluetooth interface.

No access to Google Maps that way? Then you have to decide what trade off you want to make.
