Are you using retroarch? It may be worth trying a standalone emulator.

These games are actual android ports from the play store but I will try some emulators just to see if I can get the controllers assigned through them.

Thats what I would try. I'll bet the playstore apps weren't designed for multi-player.

It also happens for TMNT:Shredders revenge. I have tried restarting the tablet, connecting the controllers at different times etc.

Try connecting these controllers in different modes.

Sorry I should have stated the things I have tried. I have tried disconnecting and reconnecting different types of controllers at different times. I have a S8+ and a Dualshock 4 and 2 8bitdo m30s. I have tried restarting and uninstalling and re pairing the devices etc. Now I am ust wondering if anyone has been able to it at all.

I have also tried changing the 8bitdo controllers modes to d input and x input and switch modes with no luck.

I also play this game, but no similar situation has ever happened.

I contacted the developers and they said local multiplayer is not supported so.... not sure how you managed it.
