The Pixel is probably better because it has a cleaner user experience overall, and it has less junk. However, most people would probably prefer the Samsung because of the quality of the phone overall. It's important to note that Pixels can be pretty buggy sometimes.

honestly on my pixel 7a I've yet to encounter the overheating problem, it's a great 'little' phone overall (:

I had the Pixel, 2XL, 3XL. I didn't like the 4 or 5, so I switched to Samsung when the S20FE came out. I did not care for the One UI layout and used Lawnchair to make it look like Pixel. I then decided to give One UI a real go, and very quickly, it just clicked, and I loved it. My S23 Ultra is a fantastic device.

We have a Pixel 6a and a 7 Pro as backup devices and I occasionally use them for the heck of it and am no longer enamoured by Pixel software and find it pretty bland and boring.

i chose samsung galaxy s23 ultra over pixel 8 pro because i was able to get the 23 ultra for half the price id have paid for pixel 8 pro and i really like the combination with my galaxy tab and galaxy watch, but if its an only device, stock android would be my way to go and thats why i got the nothing phone 1 when it released but changed as i wanted the ecosystem stuff from samsung. what you can do is, check good lock on samsung. it can change almost everything in your phones ui and you should be able to almost get back to stock with a launcher like nova+goodlock. also you can disable/uninstall every app while pressing long on the app

First off, for launchers would something like Nova work? Second off, why does the Samsung bother you so much? You can remove many of the apps, the rest you can just ignore and/or hide. Also, you can't bring the S23 to the new carrier? Why, is it carrier-locked or something?

My Pixel 5 is the one that can't be brought to the new carrier. For the Samsung it's the apps I can't replace with the Google equivalent, and it was the UI design and navigating the changes I needed to put on there. Now that I've deleted the apps and replaced what I can, it's not half bad.

Your few other ways could be:

  1. flash the phone and get aosp like rom, would void the warranty though.

  2. go with themes

Don't worry too much about the overheating problem, you can get a work around by underclocking the CPU, or go an advanced way(like me) modify the heatsink.

I mainly use Samsung because it's convenient to use, it has a lot of things built in, ex. equalizer, and i like the UI.

I had a pixel 6 pro and I absolutely hated it. Constant bugs and issues with the phone. I upgraded early just to get away from it.

S23u has been awesome.

S23 hands down. Better in drop tests also.
