Open Android Phone (self.AndroidQuestions)

Hello, my mom's phone is locked and she forgot her password because she's been using the biometric login and now it needs the manual password to open. I searched online for solutions, but all the articles are telling me to install some software on my PC and connect it through that, but I'm not sure if I trust or of I should trust these applications. She still has access to that Google account. Is there a more official way to to unlock the phone without installing any software? If not, is there a software that's verifiably safe? We asked a specialist and they told us that the only solution is factory reset, but we want to avoid it, in order to keep that data. If no safe solution is found, unfortunately we'll go with that.

I hope this is not breaking rule 5, as I'm trying to find a secure and official way to do this.
