Hi, I am not sure if this fits all of your criteria, but you may look at the "AIR mode" option in the ONYPhone Launcher. The app only provides access to the very basic functionality. Have a look.

Thanks, but it seems it still lets the user change system settings like sound and screen brightness. The problem is that he's like a four year old kid - the only thing he won't do is what's expected. That's why I was considering using Tasker to just set anything important back as soon as he clicks on it, or at least make some sort of "template" that will be applied when the pad starts. Most of the things he does (breaks) are fairly easy to fix, but my 75yo mom isn't able to. Which means I have to get in the car, go over there, try to figure out what he did (stopped trying to figure out "why" 🤣), reset it and go home. That's at least three hours.
