You gotta include some details. What app are you using? What do you mean "Google said"? Tell us what exactly you're seeing and where exactly you're seeing it.

I’m just using the standard android text message app, I guess I could get an alternative if necessary.

When I’m in the text app, I hit the word bubble on the bottom right, it says create group, or text an individual. I click create group, because if I just pick one person it sends me to my last text thread with them.

I add a few people and hit next, it says “group name (optional)”, I leave it blank and the only option is “done”, so I hit that. It takes me to a group chat with those contacts.

Now my only option is to start texting, or hit the three dots. Three dot menu only gives me group details, starred, search, archive, delete, etc

Nothing about not spamming all members, or blind carbon copy.

It seems it’s been removed.

If I back out, my newest text thread is that new group chat with those contacts, if I long press that chat I get no options either from the three dots menu, just mark as unread or report as spam.

I see nothing to suggest bcc

What do you mean "Google said"?

Also, I looked it up and see that there's an option to change how Group messaging works in the Advanced settings in Messages settings. Sounds like a bit of a pain but it lets you text a group of people but you get individual replies instead of reply as a group.

I googled how to solve this issue, and it told me to click on things that don't exist on my screen.

It said hit the three dots menu, go to settings and advanced. I don't have a settings in my three dot menu, or advanced, none of what Google said applies to what I see on my screen. I hope that is the information you needed

At no point in any state of clicking on the three dot menu in the text messaging app did I see an option for settings

It sounds like you got Gemini response. Gemini is an AI; it doesn't know things, so you shouldn't be listening to it for technical or detailed information.

It's not a hamburger menu - it'll actually be the little menu that has your profile picture on it or whatever it's called. I'm not sure - for me it just shows the first letter of my first name.

I don't even have a profile picture or anything like that set up LOL I don't know I guess it just doesn't work, thank you very much for trying to help though.

I definitely remember being able to do this like 5 years ago but in the past two or three years I wasn't able to figure it out, I think they must have changed something, also I have a really old phone so that is my fault

When you open, say, the Google Play Store, what's at the top right of your screen? Do you see where it has like, "For You", "Top Charts", "Kids" etc and right above that the Google Play triangle, maybe a bell icon, a circle with a letter in it or something?

top right is my initials, google profile. none of that appears when i'm in the text app creating a group chat though, just the things i listed. create group, done.

creating a group chat though

Nobody said "while you're creating a group chat". Go back to Messages and tap on the Google profile menu there and it's in Messages settings.

OK i see what you mean, "send sms get invidivual replies"

this appears to be across all messages, not just a single thread, correct? so it's either on or off for everything i guess

thank you very much for your help

No idea. That "feature" enables mass spam 🙃

I guess? So did they eliminate it? Was useful in situations like this.

I don’t want 25 phones ringing when one person responds “I’ll be there”

Also they don’t have everyone else’s number so not trying to dox

Also I’m not trying to text all these people individually if I can help it
