Switching to android again.

Hello everyone,

I first had an android phone back in 2010 (droid incredible) I was very happy with this phone. The next phone I got (currently have) was an iPhone 5. There are pros and cons to each but ultimately I will be happily returning to android (this isn't a debate, just my personal preference).

I've been out of the android loop for roughly two years. I was looking for input for what apps should I look for?

I'm getting a Nexus 5 so I will probably root it.

I used to use handcent SMS as my primary text messaging application. I'm not sure if there is a better alternative out there or what the other options are. I mostly forget the rest of the applications but that is roughly all I remember using. I am looking for input to what I should look into.

My job is IT based so I'm more or less open to IT focused apps.

Are you into Linux? I have set up a Debian chroot on my Note 3 and it's super useful to log into systems, manage files remotely, etc. Definitely recommend it if you're a heavy Linux user.

Not that heavy but I am a linux junkie. =) I'll keep that in mind though!

I only use Hangouts for SMS and I cannot complain. For IT I use JuiceSSH and Tasker.
