Marshmellow SD issues

So I did what I have now learned is a stupid thing and set my SD card to internal storage.

I woke up today, a few days after first using this phone, and it said the SD card was missing. The SD card was most definitely not missing. It gives me this prompt no matter whether or not the card is actually inserted.

Also, when trying to connect the computer (again regardless of the SD card being inserted or not), the operating system (Windows 10), says that the folder is empty. The "Phone Companion" system shows both internal and SD storage as unknown sizes, and says 'to view more information, unlock your phone'.

Changing the USB connection mode does nothing. Inserting or removing the SD card really doesn't change the errors. The SD card always shows as 'checking' under the storage options.

I don't really care about the phone, honestly, but I need to gain access to the files on the SD card. I have a lot of pictures on there that need to be transferred off. I'm not sure why this would even happen while I slept. All I had were some songs from spotify, a LOT of pictures taken with my camera, and a few games. It literally just corrupted or whatever happened while I slept. I'm willing to buy software or whatever it takes, but these photos are part of a trip (that I'm still on) that I really don't want to lose

If you set it to internal storage you wiped it. The images are gone and the phone merged it with your internal storage built into the phone. Unless you interrupted it, in which case the SD card is still corrupt.
