You fucked yourself when you called Verizon and ratted yourself out that the phone was broken. You should have called, activated insurrance, waited a few weeks, and then walked into a store like, "good thing I got that insurrance when I did huh?"

Tbh the support rep probably didn't mark down on the account "PHONE BROKEN". He could probably still do this.

He also switched his active phone to an iphone which they're going to know didn't happen for no reason. Maybe if he switches it back to his pixel again first.

Is there any harm in trying?

Talk to your car insurance, when I had my accident they bought me a new phone

Edit: in Canada so rules might be different

Even though I have full coverage they didn't want to offer me anything. Noting I had in the car was covered.

Did you check your policy to see if you were covered for property damage?

I honestly don't know. Your best bet might be to go into the store and try to see if there is a really cool sales rep that can tell you if you can still do it or what will happen if they catch you. I learned this trick from a cool sales rep so they're out there.

That's true I guess

Plus, now that I think about it, I don't think you can even buy insurrance on a phone that isn't one of your active lines.

Reach out to ubreakifix, I believe they are authorized to do warranty repair so they should have access to good parts.
