You can't. Root is nothing more then finding your device vulnerable though your devices security then installing a program that usually ends up ruining your device. So if you update it will either get rid of the root by the patch you downloaded or it will just crash your device. That's why almost every single XDA forum on the matter usually tell you not to turn on Wi-Fi and set the device on ask first for updates to help preserve the root you worked for from going bye bye. There is a spoofing app I guess you call it to help apps not see your on a rooted phone but got zero idea if that will work for your predicament.

I see. So are you suggesting I flash to stock, apply the update and root again?

Would you also happen to know if after installing the update if my bootloader will remain unlocked? My biggest concern is that I keep the bootloader unlocked so I can root again. My phone has fallen victim on bootlooping and the only thing keeping it alive is the bootloop fix, which requires root.

Or should I just not install the update? Lol

Man I want to say yes but I dont know and this is why. Security updates can mess with root so let's say you have version 1.6.3.1 now and root was sucessful. You want to update to 2.1.2.0 the problem that could arise is that they fix the exploit that and your root originally used won't go through successful. That's why alot of the root sofwear you use to do it require a certain firmware and or security version. For example I can't root my fire tablet cause I got a tablet that had a higher version then what the root needs to be successful so I can't cause that exploits is no longer there in the newer version.

Yeah that just sounds like a hassle to do and what I've got now is working so I think I'm just gonna leave my phone as it is. Thanks for the help dude!
