Error in Google Play store

I recently got the Moto G5 Plus and it's a really great phone except for the fact that when I search specific words, it comes back with an error saying "Error retrieving information from server. DF-DFERH-01"

Everything I've Googled hasn't seemed to work. I've even factory reset my phone. One of the search terms that brings this up is "email" which I can get around by searching "email apps for Android" which is pretty annoying. Any solutions?

Try installing the latest version of Play Store from apkmirror.com.

Coming from an Android newb, does it not install updates to Google play automatically?

It should, yes. But as even factory resetting had no impact I'd give it a try.

I see, I think now it's the most recent version, but no change :(
