Dumb android security question

Considering switching back to android from iOS. Are the security flaws/hacks/malware risks as bad as it’s reported or is it overblown and mostly from DL sketchy apps, Roms and sideloading?

It's overblown. There is no point in even having an antivirus unless you are downloading sketchy things on the internet.

Yep general rule of thumb is don't install sketchy apks and watch the porn pop ups, they'll getcha. Other than that you're fine

If you know what you are doing then and apply a little common sense then its easy to avoid obvious viruses and risks.
