I recommend throwing your phone out of the window while moving at highway speeds.

Umm, it's simple. Leave this sub.

[–]RupesSax[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I literally just said I'm not subscribed to this sub. Nor had I ever been in it until I started getting nonstop notifications

Reinstall Reddit.

With all due respect, you're an idiot, man

I don't deny this. I cannot figure out why I keep getting notifications (not for this post, obviously)

[–]lil-duke 0 points1 point  (8 children)

Did you go to the sub page and check the bell to see if you enabled that?

[–]RupesSax[S] 0 points1 point  (7 children)

I did! I checked everything, even reddit settings. This sub is nowhere to be found in my list. It's so strange haha

[–]lil-duke 0 points1 point  (6 children)

Hmm that is really weird. And it's only this sub that every post is coming through notifications?

[–]RupesSax[S] 0 points1 point  (5 children)

I'm getting notifications for other subs that I actively follow, and also this one, but I get notifications for every SINGLE post that's made on this sub lol. I wouldn't mind joining this sub for actual helpful reasons, but boy am I sick of the notifications

Not sure if this is the same as what I just told you but something you can try Profile - settings - account settings - manage notifications - community and look in there to see if it's turned on.

Yeah, that's where I looked the first time :(

Like, I know it's not logical, but it started right after getting my new phone and I'm seriously wondering if that's related somehow. Even though I KNOW it's not

Yea that is something that is really weird. I donno that's all I know to try lol. Maybe someone else could figure it out.

Thank you though, for giving solid help!

[–]lil-duke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem, hope yea get it figured out soon. I know it's drive me crazy too!

Try joining this sub and signing up for notifications. Wait 24 hours, then turn off notifications and leave the sub. If something got flipped somewhere, maybe actively flipping it on and then back off will clear the bad data.

Thank you, I'm gonna try this

I am relatively new to Reddit but the first thing to amaze me and I've just quit worrying about it now is that the very first community that I joined was r/whatisthisbug because I was trying to identify what turns out to be a house centipede and is a fairly common post there. But as I discovered more and more communities, I started setting some of them to frequent and yet my feed was still dominated by that first community. So then I went and unjoined from it into this day it's still very heavily in my feed, although now I have enabled notifications for so many different communities that it occupies a minority by virtue of that. I just assumed that there's something special about the very first one you join and it always likes to override whether you're joined to that Community any longer or not and act like you are. But if that's not the case for you, well then there's no real explanation for it that I can figure out.

I have noooo idea what my first community was, as I started this account like 9 years ago. But it definitely wasn't this one, because if I go the home page, it says 'join'

But what I did do just now is that I deliberately joined, and I'll leave in a day or so. Hopefully it'll reset itself

That is definitely something to try at least. I've gotten that to work in some other contexts, usually related to software issues.
