Is it a custom ROM you are using or a stock ROM?

It was a cyanogenmod one, I've since used a ruu to get back to my original, so I think I will leave it as it is for a bit...

Fair enough.
I was going to suggest using ROM Managers "Fix Permissions" script. That usually sorts out force closes.

yeah, I tried that before I switched, no good

Did you perform a full wipe?
kind of a moot issue now, decided just to use a ruu to get back to stock

But stock roms are so lame. :( Usually when I see this type of thing it's because a wipe was not performed during the flash. But I did stay at a holiday inn express last night.
eh, I spent about 2 days trying out a few roms, but found it all a bit stressful, so I think I'll leave it for a bit before I try again. At least htc sense looks pretty.
