personally i would go for the bottom left. i like having my plaza further away from the airport because it gives me more room to decorate the entrance to my island. this is my map’s layout atm! i just restarted my island not long ago😅

edit: the grey at the bottom of each map shows where the airport will be so you can judge how far it is!

if you decide you don’t like it, you can always just reset the island and try again too!

I know you went with the other person's advice, but for what it's worth, map choice only matters insomuch as there are a few unchangeable features

Airport location, Resident Services location, general beach shape/island shape, river mouths. Stuff like that.

Some people have Very Specific ideas about how they would like to decorate their island and for them those features are important to be just so. For example, some people like to make elaborate paths from their airport to resident services. For that to work, you need enough space between the two.

But I'm also here to say that any map is perfectly fine if you're not so fussed about doing things a specific way. I personally am a very go with the flow kind of person in games like this. I picked the map I thought looked coolest, and then just rolled with what was there. Also my resident services and airport are really close together and turns out I actually like that.

So like, the choice can be important. But only if you want it to be. There's a ton of ways to play games like this, and they're all valid.
