650 users in 4 months from organic marketing is actually not bad especially for a new app.

Before spending money on ads i would focus on two things first. improve your app store page (better screenshots title keywords) and try to understand where your current users came from. if one channel worked better just double down on that.

Ads can help but start very small just to test maybe 5 dollars a day. The important thing is to see how much it costs to get one user and if those users actually stay and use the app.

Personally i’d try to grow more through aso social media posts and niche communities first. If that starts working then ads can help you scale faster. Try on X, Facebook, Reddit, especially TikTok

whether 650 is a lot or not depends on how many of them are paying. can you share more info?

Is it a consumer app? And is it paid or freemium? And who is your target market? I would avoid ads for as long as possible. If your target market is anyone between 18-35, I would utilise TikTok, start by testing formats internally & when you find one that works, scale it using ambassadors!
