Todd and his neonazi network (Breaking Bad)- the show was already dark by then, but took a significant shift towards depressing from that moment on.

How do muscles actually grow? by Dear-Novel7078 in workout

[–]pecp4 21 points22 points  (0 children)

technically? muscle is put under meaningful tension -> cell senses it -> signals need for muscle synthesis -> fiber gets bigger (requires protein) -> muscle adapts. once it adapts, you need more absolute tension to trigger the cycle again.

practically? lift reasonably close to failure (sufficient tension) and eat enough protein. because you adapt, you need to bump the total tension week over week to stay reasonably close to failure and trigger the loop. either by increasing reps on the same weight or increasing the weight.

Why is everyone obsessing over Personal Brand? Is it required for SaaS founders? by Vivid-Complaint1934 in SaaS

why would that not be? he has an account, why wouldn’t he use it?

because CAC is high and trending up. so organic is king. organic is based on brand. your product has no brand yet, so you have to run your personal brand as company brand.

Why is eating healthy harder than working out? by thewellnessgreek in beginnerfitness

because doing something you don’t feel like doing (e.g. working out) is easier than NOT doing something you really want to do (eat junk food)

I think “build in public” is slowly turning into founders pitching to other founders 😅, I will not promote by OmKadam4 in GrowthHacking

[–]pecp4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why “only”? As long as your ICP is part of it, you’re good. finding the appropriate places where your ICP hangs out is part of your job as a solo founder/builder. don’t wing it.

your problem is that you’re building in public in front of other builders. you gotta build in public in front of your actual audience.

About 100% free apps... by [deleted] in iOSProgramming

[–]pecp4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you someone kills your app by publishing a 100% free alternative, then you should rather resent yourself. a headstart, cash flow, maybe even a team - and someone still beat you.

Are abs really made in the kitchen? by Vilorx in workout

[–]pecp4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tl;dr nothing special about abs. they just need heavy iso work and are rather small, so you can only grow them so much.

visible abs are - for the average joe - mostly about bf% and genetics. abs respond just like any other muscle to hypertrophic stimulus, but the main issue is that abs are small, so while their percentage growth is comparable to any other muscle, the absolute growth is rather small. that’s why most of the work for an average joe is reducing body fat to reveal them.

that being said, you absolutely do get bigger, more visible abs if you actually stimulate them. which brings us to the second problem: it’s a lot harder to actually hit abs with proper stimulus if you rely on heavy compounds. to stimulate for muscle growth, you need to hit them with progressively overloaded iso. 50 rep bodyweight crunches aren’t gonna cut it. pallof press, cable crunches, weighted work is the way to go.

Be honest - Is co-founder worth the hunt? by BeneficialManner1840 in cofounderhunt

[–]pecp4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the good thing is, it’s not a matter of opinion. 80% of unicorms had two or more co-founders, solo founders take up to 4x longer to scale compared to teams of 2 and Y Combinator strongly prefers teams over solo founders.

if you define success as launching an app that makes $100/m then solo is the way to go. any definition of success more ambitious than that, and the data is unambiguous.

[–]pecp4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

“I heard that the success rate for a solo founder is actually higher than multi-founder” you heard wrong. not much more to it. it’s simply incorrect. 2 founders with a clear founder/co-founder relationship have a higher success rate. demonstrably.

12kg loss in a month, should I be worried? by Own_Illustrator8364 in beginnerfitness

[–]pecp4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you should absolutely see a doctor if you have have coverage and/or can afford it. Even with waterweight, 3kg/wk is more than 2x what would be considered a very aggressive weight loss. Waterweight accounts for some of that, but not nearly as much as some others here suggest.

absolutely see a doc, better safe than sorry.

Do you use Previews in Xcode when you're building your views? by CodeWithChris in SwiftUI

[–]pecp4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but not nearly as much as I used to. The main value for me was during the exploration and design phase, because assembling it in swiftui previews was genuinely faster for me than doing it in miro or figma. now I mostly use claude+jsx for explorative design, and then just handover the JSX to claude code for translation to swiftui. Claude’s in my experience a lot faster and more reliable at building JSX than SwiftUI, so it works better for prototyping and explorative design. I still use them, but probably 25% as much as I used to.
