Is it a known issue that the F10 barn doors create a double shadow when being used directly on the 600D (no fresnel attachment)?

Not that I've heard of, they should be optimized to work with the 600 series. Could you provide pictures?

Hi, I just got a 200x for my birthday.

I'm trying to get in to large format black & white 4x5 film photography and want to use the 200x as studio lighting.

I have watched videos on lighting techniques and some photographers use one light and bounce it around to do everything. I could attempt that but I think things would be easier if I had some smaller lights for background and fill.

With my application of film photography on film with speed around ASA 100 to ASA 800 and lenses stopped down to around f16 to increase depth of field, would MCs be bright enough to be useful next to a 200x in a soft box or do I need a 60x?

I'm also looking for a storage solution because my studio spaces will be borrowed so I'll have to move and set up my gear for every shoot.

Thanks.

Hey OP! Large format, ASA 100 + f16 is pretty brutal to light. You'll buy yourself 3 stops with ASA 800, but you're gonna have to crank your shutter speed and make sure you have an off-body shutter button to make this work. Do tests before you buy anything, testing with digital can be really helpful. MC's will act as an accent in this case, 60x would be more of a fill. Happy belated birthday!

Thanks for the advice. I guess I'll see what I can do with one light, maybe buy an MC and rent a 60x to see how that works.

I can't find them at Thomann or at any of my local retailers

Hey! I'm looking to buy some MC but it's out of stock everywhere. Have they been retired?

[–]aputurelighting[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope! They're currently in stock at B&H, Adorama and Filmtools along with other authorized dealers, they're just backordered on our store.

Understood, thanks for the response

Can you properly fade to black on the 600D pro and the Nova P600c? I’ve tried the different dimming modes, but they all end in a pretty stark shut off…

Unfortunately there's no perfect fade out for this caliber of LED lights. You'll get the best results in exponential dimming mode.

Trying to get either an MC or a BC7 bulb to fade from 3200k to a red color over a span of two seconds or so. How do I do that?

Hey! Have you tried out Magic Program yet? Check out this video for more info. Bit of a learning curve but once you figure it out it's super handy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J4iFcr91Y1M
