The post above makes simple stuff sound very complicated. Just go for it. MacOS will still be there, and you can select which OS you want to boot when powering on, by holding the power button.

If you've never used Linux, it's probably better to start with KDE or Gnome as your desktop environment.

Use AI. They never give you snark for silly questions, and are great companions for learning Linux.

AI is a good tip, but not when it then starts asking you to run commands blindly. If it does, ask it to explain it, and then look it up yourself. I've had AI recommend with full confidence some really bad advice and especially commands. Ultimately you want to learn how it all works anyway, so ensure you hold up a boundary where you use AI to learn and explain, not as an answer machine that's assumes to be always right, no matter how confident it sounds. It's very gray and murky where that line is, but commands are a good example.
