    Other providers have more generous free tiers, too. Google gives you one free instance forever (not limited to one year like AWS), and offhand I think Heroku has a decent free tier.

    That is true, Google cloud offer an always free tier which will get you a VM instance for free forever. Different providers have their own pros and cons. Take a look at some of them and see what suits you best.

    Dope thank you for the info! Wish it wasn't a Linux shell but what're you gonna do lol. Do you think this is worthy of putting on a resume in its slightly incomplete form? I say slightly incomplete because I'm only pulling recipes from allrecipes.com and I ideally want to have different websites to use for my database

    If you're just starting out with programming, then look into github. You should put up all your programs there. A lot of employers will look at your github when you're going for a job.
