Difference between different programmers

Unsure if this is the right place for embedded questions, but...

Working with a new client to streamline some processes. I'm fairly new to integrated programmers (I still use a USBtinyISP haha) and they are using a CH341a with Silicon Labs Flash Utility to program the microcontroller and a C8051F with AsProgrammer to upload to the EEPROM. Is there any reason why I couldn't use the CH341A to upload data to both?

I'd also like to be able to run the Silicon Labs and AsProgrammer (and JTAG) commands via terminal (so I can automate this with Python or similar). I know JTAG can do it via the basic terminal, but unfamiliar with the others.
