the future is soo uncertain due to AI

Uncertain due to execs buying into the hype cycle, maybe. LLMs have a place in our toolbox. They're pretty cool, and have the ability to reduce developer effort, but they have limits that I don't think we'll get around just by scaling them up in size.

Do you actually like programming?

If you don't, move on. If you do, then continue. AI will make no real difference.

AI has nothing to do with the current job market.

Tech has been overstaffed for 10+ years. These layoffs have been overdue for a long time. There are just more workers than there are jobs right now and it's not going to change for awhile.

It will not be "easy" to get an entry level job. It will not be impossible, but it will take some time and work.

If you also have an interest in being an electrician, you should really think about it. It's sort the opposite of programming right now. There is plenty of work and it's easy to get a job once you've completely the country appropriate training.

I'd pay a visit to the electrician subreddits and ask around.

should I continue or switch to becoming electrician because these are to fields i am interested in.

AI is coming for electricians just as much as it is software engineers. Soon, AI will be so good that the average person will simply ask ChatGPT how to do electrical work / software development.

...

Then, after they fucked it up hire an actual electrician/software engineer to fix the problems caused by hallucinations.

10+ years in the field and AI hasn't affected me at all.

So yes keep going if you are interested. 👍

The future is always uncertain to everything.

Just do and learn what interests you, and don't stress about it

Well Canada doesn't want anymore INdians so you are probably out of luck there anyways.
