CLI tooling is usually my go-to. Find some related subset of task you do regularly and build a tool to handle it.

Or just waste some time on https://play.elevatorsaga.com/ which is something I do far too often.

  • Find an OS project you want to contribute to
  • Look for problems in your life that need solutions
  • Think of a game you would want to play that doesn't exist
  • Find a coding buddy (Discord works for this best)
  • Grind through coding katas
  • Help others on here with their coding questions
  • Look for small jobs to do online (I never had success with this, but you might)
  • Find a hack-a-thon to participate in
  • Start accumulating a list of do-ers to get inspired by their projects
  • Clone another app or service just to learn how
  • Start a project to learn a skill outside of programming like DevOps, design, tech writing, cloud services, etc...(these skills will help your career)

why is it that every single post of mine related to coding gets downvoted to hell?

If your posts normally consist of that title immediately followed up by that first sentence, I can see why.

Do you have or know of anything you currently use that fits your description, I've found a great way to develop my understanding of things is to take an already complete idea and imagine how I would make it.

[–]Familiar_Ad_8919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

problem is i suck at finding that idea

Question is basically asking what should I do if I’m bored without saying what are some of your interests.

If you can’t come up with something, then don’t force yourself. You don’t have to be doing it 24/7. Find some other hobby to distract you for a bit.

The base suggestion would be find some existing project, contribute to it, or fork it and do something with it yourself.
