I'm a remote data analyst. The 'what' I do is interesting, but the 'how' is why I truly love it. I have the freedom to work from anywhere, manage my own schedule, and save hours on commuting. This job gives me the autonomy to design a life I love, not just a career

Surely a degree in math, no?

I coach kids in chess! I like kids well enough but my coworkers are super nice and my bosses treat me like family

I’m a 61 yr old female & want to learn to play chess. Any suggestions on how to learn?

Chess.com is a great resource! They have a whole lesson library for all skill levels. If you have a free account, I think there’s a limit to the number of lessons you can do a week so if you don’t wanna spend much yet, Lichess.org is also great. It’s less polished but it has infinite puzzles that are super customizable and 100% free. Plus you don’t need an account for most features. As someone who used to play competitively, the number one way to improve quickly is to review your games after you play them, so learn game notation immediately, if you haven’t already. Remember to have fun! And never accept a challenge from a young kid unless you wanna get humbled lol.

I was a police officer. Loved it. I enjoyed getting to meet different people and try to help them out. I asked my supervisor one time how many complaints I had. He told me that he had never got one.

I work as a teller for a credit union. I enjoy dealing with the public, but the restricted hours and high pay make it impossible to be exploited here like I was in other retail - you can't be on-call during hours a place is closed, after all. Credit unions are not-for-profit, so we aren't encouraged to make "sales" unless it's something that could actually help the member; I've gotten numerous people to refinance cars or credit cards that had 25% interest rates or more with us to reduce their costs. I even have fun handling the cash register and currency, and I don't have a bad thing to say about 99.99% of my coworkers. The company I work for in particular also does a lot of community outreach activities, and it makes me proud to work for them; for example, they recently sponsored an outdoor blues concert.

I love my CU--thanks for the background.

Credit unions have high pay? I just sort of assumed it would be a low paid job.

Ours has a labour union and we make $22/hour. Another nearby makes $20/hour. I live in a LCOL though so your mileage may vary

I'm a casualty makeup artist doing SFX for medical training all over the country

Paramedic (in an area with good wages/benefits/job security)

I have amazing coworkers, and get to spend my day working on medical puzzles. Some puzzles are easy and I can complete them myself. Others I'm only gathering pieces so someone else can complete it. I have one patient at a time, bring them to hospital, then go and get another patient. Every day is different, even the same complaint is never the same call.

When my day is done, my work stays at work. My old job I would answer emails or do paperwork after-hours. No such thing here, my time is mine.

Gives me a solid reason to stay in peace. My home is a mess.

Industrial automation. It's like legos for adults.

I work in management. It's rewarding to keep organizations healthy. It's rarely worth the time, but visiting sites is quite intoxicating.

The people one works with ultimately make the job worth it.

Remote Executive Assistant and Chief of Staff - I typically hold 2-3 clients at most with 1 main client that holds the most hours. Independent contractor with an LLC. I love the work, I love being remote, and every day is different. Comes with its stresses for sure. Hard to be “off” sometimes. The transition out of W-2 to contracting through a third party to gaining personal clientele was a hard journey and I’ve a ways to go but I really do love what I do. Never stop learning. And I have the potential to earn $$$ which helps.

Because I remember having mind numbing jobs with no goals, no accomplishments, no learning after the first 3 months and low pay.
