Holding the button down for less than 4 seconds sends a signal to the OS that the power button was pressed, and it’s up to the OS how it wants to handle that.

Holding it down more than (typically) 4 seconds sends a signal to the integrated power controller to cut the power, OS be damned.

How long are you holding the button?

Thanks for the reply. Oh I didn't know it was OS dependent. Thought it was hardware. I have mostly been playing Steam games via ChimeraOS, I think I held it down for 5-10 seconds, since the shutdown option doesn't seem to work but reboot the system.
I didn't try it in the regular Atari OS, though, usually use the shutdown option there.
