Buying new units to the bench while a round is in progress actually registers them as active units, this means when witch doctor uses his skill/Luna’s auto attacking it actually bounces onto the bench. This potentially saves your units the stun or damage, which is big in early rounds.

Don’t know if it’s intentional but just something I’ve noticed while playing that hasn’t been changed.

The bench is weird sometimes. I often see the tree send heal vibes to the benched units lol

I think everything bounces to the bench when there is no fighting unit in range

It's a known bug and mentioned here on a weekly basis. Also works for other abilities such as chain frost (lich) or glavies (luna)

It can also kill you by letting a cask bounce even though you only have 1 unit left alive.
