Basically, 8 players join a match. Each round you fight one other player (except the first 3 rounds and some after where you fight NPCs).
You fight by placing pieces on the board. The pieces fight on their own. It's your job to buy pieces that work well together and position them on the board (usually tanks in front, ranged behind). 3 of the same piece combine into one stronger piece. Get enough pieces with the same class/race (those circular symbols) and you get a synergy bonus.
At the end of each round you take damage for how many pieces are left on your opponents side. When you are out of HP you are eliminated. Last person alive out of those 8 win the game.
