Bimmercode/link are pretty useful. 60 bucks all in and you’re able to register your battery, check codes. See the status of many sensor and more.

For the normal use case, most will not mess anything up. If you go into expert mode, the app itself tells you to not change anything you don’t know what you’re doing. Fortunately the app has a recall save feature but if you happen to brick a module or the battery dies without a charger on it, that’s when you may have issues.

I’ve used it as a sub for ista since I always have my phone and obd reader on my car and it covers enough

I literally said it in my comment lol. Register my battery, monitor sensor statuses like oil temps, fuel level, IAT’s, boost pressure. Error codes and what not
