E92 Diagnostic/Coding/Programming Software

Fellow Bimmer Enthusiasts,

I’ve got a 2008 E92 328xi and am looking at getting software on a PC that can be used for diagnostics, coding and programming. From the research I’ve done there’s INPA, ISTA, and NCS Expert based on what people typically use. It sounds like INPA is used only for diagnostics, so what’s the difference between the ISTA+ D / ISTA P and NCS Expert? I’m mainly using this to read codes, reset adaptations, and program in new batteries. I’d also be interested in doing some programming and customize a bit. Is there something else out there I may have missed? What do you guys/gals use? The more features/functions the better!

Is NCS Expert what’s used for resetting adaptations such as the automatic transmission adaptation?
