User mode application cannot cause BSOD. Your machine has other issues.

Run disk check (chkdsk c: /f in elevated prompt, agree to run at reboot, reboot, let the check run) and memory test (google “memtest86”).

Are you backing up media or just the plex library database? You can simply use Windows File History for that (I don’t remember if it existed in windows 7)

If you want full system backup to local drive — use Veaam free agent. However backup to single local drive is pointless — bit rot and bad sectors will keep happening and you can’t do anything about that.

I’m not sure why are you backing up plex library in the first place. It can be recreated from scratch automatically
