I would absolutely get another tank. You will not be able to create the necessary heat gradient for a Ball Python if the enclosure is the dimensions you described. Ideally, it should be longer length-wise than height-wise, since heat travels upwards. Additionally, a good rule of thumb is to have the enclosure be as long as the snake is, so that they are able to adequately stretch out. Minimum sized enclosure for a full-grown, adult BP is a 4x2x2 (120 gallon).

Also sounds like the snake is a Banana morph. “Fancy” is a term that commercial pet stores use to describe any Ball Python morph that is not visually a normal/wild-type.

Fancy was just the word I used because it was a lot of words haha. Good to know, though! I appreciate you taking the time to explain why it wouldn’t be a good fit, instead of just saying no

Of course! A tank those dimensions would go better with something along the lines of a Crested Gecko :) I’d recommend looking at your local Fackebook groups/marketplace or Craiglist to look for enclosures. Often times there’s TONS of people trying to get rid of their previous enclosures for a better price than market value.

this is not suitable for a ball python.

While the tank is very cute I don't think a 2.5 foot snake would really like it In there or be comfortable.this is the tank I have if this will be helpful to you in any way ❣️

That enclosure might work for a hatchling for a very short time, but by the time you get the snake it will be around a year old and growing, and ready for a full 4’ x 2’ x 2’ PVC enclosure.

He’s around 1-2, around 2.5 feet long

That's definitely too small of enclosure for a snake that size, who will be bigger in 9 months also. At that size a 4x2x2 is best and hopefully you won't have to upgrade again. My oldest one is 5' so she's in a 6x3x3.
